Cancelled - Here Comes The Sun Festival 2020

Price:
TBC - Tickets on sale soon

We’re sorry to say that this year’s Here Comes The Sun Festival will not be going ahead.

We’ve been closely monitoring the official advice, and despite our best hopes it’s become increasingly clear that running the festival simply won’t be possible by early August. The safety of our volunteers, our artists and our community is paramount.

Our team had already put in months of work and we had such plans for you. But these plans will come to fruition next year – Saturday 14th August 2021, in fact. So be sure to put that date in your diary.

Here Comes The Sun has always been a fundraiser for the centre. We know times are difficult for everyone, but if you do want to help us out we’ve teamed with our ticketing partner WeGotTickets for #TheEventThatNeverHappened. Buying a “ticket” for this “event” means your donation will help us survive this difficult period - https://www.wegottickets.com/sct/pFa4fMBN4Z

Thank you for your support – stay safe, and we’ll see you next year.

***** ***** *****

Here Comes The Sun is an all-day festival of music, arts, dance, children’s activities, food, drink and everything that makes the Rising Sun Arts Centre so special. For the eleventh year running, we’ll once again be opening all our doors for a full day of music, arts, food and fun on Saturday 8th August.

Here Comes The Sun is one of the biggest events of the centre’s calendar, and presents a unique chance to really show off just what makes the place – and its volunteers – so special. This tall, imposing former temperance house will once again be transformed into a colourful cathedral of culture. The doors to the centre are flung open to give our community all-area access, with art and decorations cropping up in every conceivable corner.

Performances will take place across three stages throughout the day, giving visitors the chance to experience the hot big-gig feel of the Sun Stage in the main room, the laid-back lounge setting of the Sky Stage upstairs, and the quaint and cosy charm of the Tree Stage in our back garden (rarely open to the public).

As well as a fantastic programme of live music, comedy and poetry, we also roll out the (fake) grass to make our courtyard a wonderful play area for kids filled with loads of fun things to do. Plus there’s an outdoor cinema in the evening and plenty to eat and drink. All courtesy of a dedicated team of volunteers.

Here Comes The Sun is a perfect way to celebrate creativity, participation and knowledge – the very ideals that The Rising Sun Arts Centre and its volunteers hold dear, and all proceeds from the event will be re-invested into the running of the centre.

So join us once again for the biggest house party of the summer!
