Maija Tuomi-Nikula studied classical and pop piano in Helsinki Conservatory, Finland, with harpsichord as a side subject. She has also featured in European orchestras and smaller ensembles touring in several European countries. Maija is currently working as a piano teacher in Reading and surrounding areas, and is also the pianist / keyboardist in two local bands, The Ultimate End and Luke Paulo and The Grapefruit.
The charity for the first concert is BT Buddies - a charity to help the sufferers of brain tumor, and those affected by it. A volunteer from BT Buddies will be present to provide information of the charity's work as part of the programme.
Classical for Charity is a bi-monthly concert series at the Rising Sun Arts Centre, all proceeds are split between the Rising Sun and the chosen charity.
