The Wind Will Carry Us (Abbas Kiarostami, 1999). Irreverent city engineer Behzad comes to a rural village in Iran to keep vigil for a dying relative. The film follows his efforts to fit in with the local community and how he changes his own attitudes as a result. In homage to auteur Abbas Kiarostami, who died in July this year. This film is a poetic interpretation of issues such as life and death, the modern and traditional, the local and the global.

This is for arthouse film lovers and is part of the Reading 2016 Year of Culture ‘Literary’ theme for October. It also forms part of our Black History Month.

Stand Up Cinema is a collaboration between The Rising Sun Arts Centre and Real Time Video. Screenings of the best locally made film and video plus rarely seen classics, obscure documentaries, cult independents and overlooked modern gems. To get your film shown at the next Stand Up Cinema contact Real Time at info@real-time.org.uk.
