Lockdown: Temporary closure

In line with the Government’s announcement regarding a national Lockdown, starting 5th November 2020 The Rising Sun will be suspending its plans for a phased reopening until further notice and contingent on further announcements from the Government on lifting restrictions.

Some social, support work will continue to happen at the centre. This is in line with government guidelines and undertaken with the support of Reading Borough Council. This means that the building will continue to be used during this period and will continue to observe measures designed to maintain a Covid safe space.

We will resume plans for a first phase of reopening again as soon as we are able.

The Arts Centre is in no immediate danger from the financial consequences of shutting down – despite being largely self funded – We do however worry about the effects of continued isolation on the creative life of our community. The Rising Sun is part of a wonderful community of people and we look forward to seeing everyone again before too long.

We are grateful for everyone's continued support. We hope to be contributing to the creative and cultural life of our town again very soon.
