Festive Fun at the Rising Sun

Damien's picture

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas with a host of festive events at the centre this December.

Kicking things off we have the annual Christmas Art Market – a splendid opportunity to put the fun back into Christmas shopping with unique, hand crafted gifts from local artists. That’s this Sunday 4th December.

Friday 9th December brings the now traditional Big Untidy Not Quite Christmas Special, featuring, amongst others, ex-Pressgang member John and compered by 'Mr Christmas' himself Mikhail the Terrible (if Santa was a member of soviet-era Russian polit-bureau).

The next night is the newly traditional (if that’s a thing) Tribute Night Christmas Special, where the usual rabble of local artistes rally together not around a singular artist, but the music of Christmas. This year we have a finale that proves what a bunch of Muppets we really are, too…

And to finish things off, there’s a double-bill of Club Velocity fun. First, the Bandorama Christmas Party on Saturday 17th, featuring three rocking young combos – Draw The Shades, Maria Pariah and IAMHUNGARY. And then why not bring in the New Year with the Bandorama NYE party, a Hootenanny to beat any on TV headlined by the infectiously energetic Dolly and the Clothes Pegs.
