Hi Everyone

Never mind Donald and Hillary or some shop unleashing it's christmas ad, some things are simply more important!!  Not only is it time for another update concerning all things Rising Sun- related, especially all those things happening this weekend, but we just happen to be throwing one heck of a birthday party to celebrate 25 years of bringing arts and culture to the people of Reading – and you’re all invited!

(We could've celebrated it in February ehrn it actually happened... but we like to do things a little differently at the Rising Sun and birthdays are no exception)

It’s been a truly phenomenal anniversary year. The centre has undergone a major renovation, put on some fantastic events both at home and in Reading town centre, and been recognised with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work in their communities.

On Friday we have none other than THE BIG UNTIDY NIGHT OUT

The Big Untidy Night Out specialises in bringing new unusual talent into the Rising Sun.  Singers, songwriters, poets, punk outfits, ambient experimentalists, sensational cellists and demonic banjo-players…the possibilities are endless

This month's Untidy features the trimphant return of VIENNA DITTO and Mr GRANT SHARKEY. This time aided and abetted by the bouyant and danceable folk of BONFIRE RADICALS. and our very own highly articulate ranters UNCLE PEANUT AND HERE ARE THE YOUNG MEN

We'll be open at 7.30pm and entry is only a measly £8 on the door!!

Saturday afternoon sees another YELLOW TEAPOT CAFE

Yellow Teapot is a family-friendly volunteer run cafe showcasing local artists' work as well as interesting books to browse, delicious homemade cakes and exotic teas to sample.

We're open from 1pm to 3pm and it's absolutely free!

On Saturday night it's our 25TH BIRTHDAY PARTY

Yes folks!  You are officially invited to party like it's 1991

The Rising Sun Arts Centre is celebrating its 25th birthday with a massive party - and you're all invited!!!!  Expect fun, games, food and music as we all celebrate everyone and everything that makes the Rising Sun Arts Centre such a fantastic part of Reading's cultural community.

There's going to be food, drink, DJ sets from volunteers and party games to get the party going. And cake. Lots of cake!

We're open from 7pm til late and it's absoultely FREE!

Finally, on Sunday, MILONGA SIMPATICA presents TANGO SELECT

Reading’s own highly acclaimed tango band are back at the Rising Sun for another afternoon of live tango music. Playing a selection of tangos and vals, some of which you will recognise and others you may not. Tango Select play tracks which are a delight for dancers and great to listen to as well.

We're open from 4.30pm to 8pm.  And it'll cost you £6 on the door

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
