Hi Everyone

Has anybody noticed that films are not quite the same as real life?

I mean to say, you would never get anyone hanging from a clock face on Big Ben to prevent enemy agents from starting a war in Europe in real life, so do film makers think that would happen and make a film about it?

And as I let you chew on that one, it's time to let you know what's happening at the Rising Sun this weekend!

Friday sees another BIG UNTIDY NIGHT OUT

The Big Untidy Night Out specialises in bringing new unusual talent into the Rising Sun.  Singers, songwriters, poets, punk outfits, ambient experimentalists, sensational cellists and demonic banjo-players, the possibilities are endless.

Big Untidy are always thrilled to welcome back one of our biggest supporters and 'friend of the Untidy' Mr GRANT SHARKEY. Grant is a modern day troubadour on an endless tour. His aim is to produce 40 albums in 20 years. His latest is 'Man School' an exercise in trying to make angry men less angry. Appearing alongside Grant will be singer songwriter with a big voice DANIEL EAGLE and MY NORTHERN SKY....pianist, guitarist and performer of high-emotion ballads.

We’re open at 8pm and mission is only a paltry £7 on the door

The third Saturday of the month?  The third Saturday of the month at a certain venue in Reading? Surely that means another helping of one of the best band nights in town.  And this time, the powers that be at Velocity HQ bring forth the following box of delights

CHARLIE HARPER (UK Subs) solo (plus in conversation) with Johnny Wah Wah

Punk Rock Royalty.  The lead singer of the UK Subs, a band who have been going for over 40 years.  And over that time, they've played thousands of gigs and released many, many records.  They even found time to chalk up the odd Top 40 hit or two.

Support comes in the shape of...

Reading super group do the Ramones country style.  It works.

Original catchy, toe-tapping tunes. Expect midlife crisis, dreamers, social comment and troubadours to feature.

We'll be open at 8pm.  And it'll cost you £10 in advance from www.wegottickets.com or slightly more than that on the night

Not only that, but also... on Monday we have another BOARD GAME EVENING!

Come down for a friendly game, the bar will be open and there will be a selection of games to choose from, if you want you can even bring your own and share the fun.

We're open from 7pm and it's absolutely FREE!

That's everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
