Hi Everyone

As Mickey Mouse’s big hand points upwards and Goofy’s tail points downwards, I realise my Rolex is a fake.

It’s also time for another update concerning all things Rising Sun-related,especially all those things happening this weekend…

Before I forget, enormous thanks to everyone who came along to last week's Tribute Night, whether you performed, ran around fixing temperamental connections to various gadgets, donated, collected donations, served drinks, bought drinks, collected empty cans and bottles, applauded, enjoyed and in any way contributed to another memorable tribute night.  Bravo!

We've got a pretty busy weekend this time around.  And it all starts on Friday, when we have THE BIG UNTIDY NIGHT OUT

The November instalment of our monthly night of music and poetry, including traditional and experimental acts who all bring something unexpected.  Singers, songwriters, poets and punks, even the occasional cellist... the possibilities are endless

RICHARD EARLS and VICKY RAYNER perform poems and songs of love, life, death and desperation, including a number of choice picks form from Richard's Older Wiser Harder collection.

Also, GRANT SHARKEY presents his intelligent and funny songs. In a literary bent ROSA DA SILVA (Sigrid Shreeve) reads excerpts from her eco-novel 'Jabujicaba' and LOS CHICOS MUERTOS bring the evening to a resounding close.

We'll be open at 8pm and it'll only cost you a paltry £5 on the door to get in

On Saturday, we have BANDORAMA

The third saturday of the month?  The third saturday of the month at a certain venue in Reading? Surely that means another helping of one of the best band nights in town.  November's helping looks something like this....

QUIET QUIET BAND
Living walking legends. They are back.  "Ace forward thinking country alt folk, with plenty of rocknroll attitude." is the humble opinion of Jamal-Andre Racoon of the Evergreen Standard

BLANK BIBLES
The powers that be at Velocity/Bandorama inform us that their CD is probably still the most played CD at their humble HQ.
.
"Ace-songs and kill..They make you smile.Folk/punk/roots and a bit of country...all mixed up. They sing about spiders...." according to a bloke we met down the pub who "knew for definite" according to Philomena Bucktripe-Carstairs of Otis Ferry’s Bloodsport Weekly

LITTLE RED
"Folk As Punk" so says a bloke we met down the pub who "knew for definite" or something

On Sunday, MILONGA SIMPATICA is proud to bring you TANGO SELECT

Reading's own highly acclaimed tango are back at the Rising Sun for another afternoon of tango music.  Playing a selection of tangos and vals, some of you which you will recognise and others you may not.  Tango Select play tracks which are a delight for dancers and great to listen to as well.

We’re open from 4.30pm and it’ll only cost you £8 on the door.

That's everything for another weekend, just to remind you that you can find us at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST  (If you put us in your Google or Sat Nav, we shall magically appear...)
