Hi Everyone

The sun is out, the sky is blue (well it's certainly bluer than it has been for a while).  There's even some clouds for all those people who aren't that keen on sunny weather and I've even heard rumours of a man seen walking out of Workhouse Coffee (or was it Shed?) who doesn't have a beard...

And with so much going on, and the town being all abuzz with something that makes the townspeople make some sort of collective buzzing noise it's time once again, it's time to tell you what's occuring at the Rising Sun this weekend

First of all, Friday, and we bring you STAND UP CINEMA

Screenings of the best locally made film and video plus rarely seen classics, obscure documentaries, cult independents and overlooked modern gems. Stand-Up Cinema is a collaboration between The Rising Sun Arts Centre and Real Time Video. To get your film shown at a future Stand-Up Cinema contact Real Time at info@real-time.org.uk.

Our main feature this month is THRONE OF BLOOD (Akira Kurosawa, 1957)

Kurosawa's classic film transposes the plot of Shakespeare's MacBeth to feudal Japan, with stylistic elements drawn from Noh drama,  Throne of Blood is a cinematic tour de force, a haunting, visionary masterpiece It'll cost you a paltry £4 on the door.  Short Films start at 7.30. Raging Bull starts showing at 8.00 pm.

On Saturday, we have BANDORAMA

The third saturday of the month?  The third saturday of the month at a certain venue in Reading? Surely that means another helping of one of the best band nights in town.

DRAW THE SHADES
Draw The Shades are a 4 piece rock band from Reading, UK. Distorted riffs, heavy anthems and soaring vocals make this band stand out from the crowd. The diversity of this band brings together an exciting mix of alternative sounds that entices their audiences.  Championed by that new-fangled BBC Berkshire Introducing and they also raised a few eyebnrows when they played last year's Caversham Festival

TOO DEEP TO DIVE
Great new kids on the block.Alt teen rock from Wokingham.

THE KEEP CATS
Current Eagle Radio Battle of the Bands winners, The Keep Cats, are a little bit lo-fi, sort of punky, substantially indie and 100% entertainment! Enjoy!!

We'll be open at 8pm.  And it'll cost you £5 on the door to get in (£4 in advance from www.wegottickets.com).

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
