Hi Everybody

Sorry I'm late, I've just been reading the many tributes to Prince on that new-fangled internet.  Like many people taking time to comment, I really do have to say that he was a big influence on my life.  I suppose that's why I sometimes purchase purple toilet paper.

And now that's out of the way, let's have a look at what's happening at the Rising Sun this weekend.

Friday's a little quiet, but on Saturday, we are one of the venues playing host to ARE YOU LISTENING?  FESTIVAL

Are You Listening? Festival returns for its fourth year, following its continuing overwhelming success, and the Rising Sun Arts Centre is excited to be involved as a venue in 2016. The one-day music festival is held across Reading town centre venues and organisers have already announced Steve Lamacq, DJ Format, Palace, Bear & The Woods, The Amazons and more as part of 2016's bill.

Since the event launched in April 2013 it has sold over 3,500 tickets and to date raised over £25,000 for Reading Mencap, a local charity which supports people with learning disabilities and their families.

Confirmed line-up for the Rising Sun looks just so...

On Sunday, we bring you SUNDAY ASSEMBLY

Sunday Assembly Reading is a community group that meets on the last Sunday of each month at the Rising Sun to hear great talks, sing songs, eat cake and celebrate life… it’s a part atheist church, part foot-stomping show.  Each event has a theme with stories, readings and a final address on that topic. No matter what the subject, the goal of The Sunday Assembly is to solace worries, provoke kindness and inject a bit more whizziness into the everyday.  And the best part.... IT’S FREE.

We're open from 11am to 12pm, and everybody's welcome!

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
