Hi Everyone

Yet again, circumstances have conspired to get in the way of things for I, your humble narrator at this present moment.  And once more, you are either spared/deprived another regular pre-amble from myself (depending on your particular point of view) and we can go head first into everything Rising Sun related this weekend

(Again)

On Friday, READ COLLEGE bring you a Brand New COMEDY PREMIERE!

8 actors, 1 director, 3 weeks, no script…

For the third year running, Seamus Allen (London 50 Hour Improvathon regular) will be directing a hilarious new comedy, which nobody, including him, knows about yet! Previous productions have included Joan of Asda, the epic tale of a group of secret agents trying to find the chosen one from amongst the supermarket aisles, and last year's sell-out Goin' Down, the story of a lost tribe of misfits in the London Underground tunnels and their herd of blood-thirsty cows…

Physical theatre, comedy and improv all come together to create an unforgettable night!  Turn up early to make sure you get in…last year was standing room only!

This event supports the Student Hardship Fund at Read Dance and Theatre College (registered charity no 1142899).

We're open at 7.45 and there's no ticket price - just donate to the charity what you think the evening was worth when you leave.

On Saturday it's time for FIESTA LATINA

A fun and sociable dance night featuring a mix of Latin dances from tango to meringue, salsa to bachata and all the stops in between (La Rueda is a speciality). Very friendly evening in somewhere that could have been lifted straight out of Cuba. Come and enjoy some hot Latin rhythms.

We'll be open at 9pm and it'll cost you a paltry £6 on the door to get in

Finally on Sunday we're proud to be bringing you our first ever STAND UP CINETHON

Join us for a whole day of cinematic classics, film trivia quizzes, homemade cake and more. This event is to raise money for the Centre's 2016 Year of Culture programme. Our movie marathon will include Dziga Vertov's 1929 documentary film Man with a Movie Camera, German silent horror film The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920), Orson Welles directing and starring in The Stranger (1946) and Hitchcock's (and indeed Britain's) first talkie from 1929, Blackmail.

Enjoy some popcorn and while away the intervals in our fabulous café of homemade cakes and refreshments. Plus - bar open throughout, film quizzes with prizes between each film, make your own movie workshops.

We're open from 12 noon until 8pm and entry is £6 all day

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
