Hi Everyone

Unfrotunately folks, time is not exactly on the side of I, your humble narrator, this week.  Due to something called insomnia and something else best described as "having sother things to do" Must be old age, I suppose. Never mind, why don't we all park our zimmer frames and walking sticks as one in common cause, and I can tell you what's happening at the Rising Sun this  weekend?

On Friday, it's time for CLUB VELOCITY's 14TH BIRTHDAY PARTY

Yes folks!  14 years of Club Velocity that seem to have come and gone a lot quicker than a decade and a bit would suggest.  Not only will there be an abundance of free cake, shizzle and "things you can throw a stick at", but also a fine buffet of ear food like so:-

PINK DIAMOND REVUE
Sonic electro punks.  Somewhere between the Shadows and Renegade Soundwave.  Beatsnroll.  More punk than you. The chattering classes and that London are finally waking up to PDR.

FIGHTING WITH KITES
A right good old UK rocknroll POP ramble.  Hailing from the rural parts of Berkshire, the lead singer looks like a young-very good looking Thurston Moore.  They are great!  The chaps have a song called John The Postman...hopefully it is actually about John The Postman.  Probably your fave new teenage band (from Berkshire)

THE KEEP CATS
You will struggle to see a tighter live band in Berkshire.Watch their drummer - he is like a little Keith Moon on lucozade.  They are not the run of your mill 'indie band' There are a lot of interesting ideas going on.Give them a few years-as they are all like 14....but for now see them while you can.!

We'll be open from 8pm and it''l only cost you £5 to get in (or £4 in advance from www.wegottickets.com)

On Saturday, we have more from ALAN CLAYSON AND THE ARGONAUTS

There are people today who’ll tell you that Alan Clayson and the Argonauts were the greatest group ever formed. Established locally four decades ago, they were thrust swiftly to ‘a premier position on rock’s Lunatic Fringe’ (Melody Maker); Clayson being spoken of and written about in the same paragraphs as Wreckless Eric, John Otway, Tom Robinson and Elvis Costello, and a headlining tour schedule that included a BBC In Concert recital. Moreover, a forthcoming new album might stand as an artistic apotheosis were it not for the promise of surprises yet to come.

There'll also able support from IZZIEE JEWELL

We'll be open from 7.45pm and it'll cost you £8 on the door (£6 concessions)

That's everything for another weekend, just to remind you that you can find us at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST  (If you put us in your Google or Sat Nav, we shall magically appear)
