Two events for your delectation this weekend, on Saturday lunchtime we bring you CLASSICAL FOR CHARITY

Classical For Charity is a series of classical and jazz concerts at The Rising Sun Arts Centre, performed by local musicians and hosted by local pianist and piano teacher

Maija Tuomi-Nikula.

Come and support us by enjoying top-quality, rarely heard music in a great, relaxed atmosphere without having to pay enormous ticket prices! This time the proceeds will be split between The Rising Sun Arts Centre and the housing charity Shelter.

This month's pereformers are:-
AMY GIBB - Clarinet
MAIJA TUOMI-NIKULA - Piano

Amy started playing clarinet at age 10, rising through the ranks of Harrow Young Musicians to become Principle Clarinettist of the Symphony Orchestra at age 17. Most Friday nights throughout her teenage years, Amy could be found rehearsing with the orchestra whilst her friends were downing pints at the pub. Memorable summers were spent touring concert venues of France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Hungary. At age 18, Amy gained an unconditional place at music college after completing a performance diploma with distinction. She gave it all up for a career in television – swapping life on the stage for a career behind the camera lens – making classical music television documentaries and working on studio shows and live concert broadcasts for the BBC.

Amy performs clarinet and saxophone with various soul, blues and jazz bands, and has gigged in most disreputable pubs in Northwest London. She is a founding member of the Vegan All Stars and is fond of Toto and Meatloaf.

Amy lives in West London and has volunteered at the Rising Sun Arts Centre for the past six years, helping to run Here Comes the Sun Festival, Finchies Bar, as well as the annual Christmas Dinner.

We're open at 12:30pm and it'll cost you £3 on the door.
