Hi Everyone

You know, I was planning a long pre-amble about this week's exciting cornucopia of all things Rising Sun related, but after some consideration/faffing about, I felt it might be better to let this weekend's events speak for themselves...

Two events for your delectation this weekend, on Saturday lunchtime we bring you CLASSICAL FOR CHARITY

The September edition of Classical For Charity features the jazz pianist TOM NEILL, who is usually known as a composer for various theatrical productions in Reading and beyond.

Tom has kindly agreed to lend his talents to the CFC concert series, an we are truly excited about this very concert!

Tom Neill trained in Music with Theatre Studies at The University of Huddersfield, attained his classical grades on piano and saxophone through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and has toured the UK extensively as an actor/musician.

His musical compositions include theatre productions of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood, Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Henry V, and orchestrations for Blackeyed Theatre’s Oh What A Lovely War as well as several pantomimes for South Hill Park in Bracknell.

He is a resident artist at The Firestation in Windsor and his latest project was to compose music for Beautiful Creatures’ The Fortress (the finale show at this year’s Caversham Festival) and Blackeyed Theatre’s upcoming tour Not About Heroes, which explores the origins of our most poignant First World War poetry. He also gigs regularly with Reading’s folk-soul-jazz outfit The Herberts.

We'll be open from 12.30pm Tickets cost just £3. Refreshments available.

(The proceeds will be split equally between The Rising Sun Arts Centre and UK WaterAid.)

On Saturday evening, THE SCARLET VIXENS bring you another EVENING OF BURLESQUE

If you believe in the philosophy 'variety is the spice of life' then you are going to love The Scarlet Vixens! Our routines are influenced by all manner of dance genres, character portrayals and narrative interpretations which include comedy, circus skills, bashful cheesecake styles, intense and dramatic, cheeky and jovial, and so much more! This means that each show is uniquely different for all the right reasons. Our routines are captivating, quirky, and most importantly - fun. There truly is something for everyone at a Scarlet Vixens show!

Performing for you on the night will be:

LAYLA CHERRY
TOOTSIE LA ROCQUE
LADY LISETTE RUBY
LADYK PHOENIX

And our featured guest, the lovely CHERRIE DAGGER

Hosted by the very naughty MISS KITTY PIMMS!!

We'll be open at 8pm, and you can get admission for just £5 on the door, we're spoiling you!

That's everything for another weekend, just to remind you that you can find us at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST  (If you put us in your Google or Sat Nav, we shall magically appear)
