Hi Everyone

Yet again, circumstances have conspired to get in the way of things for I, your humble narrator at this present moment.  And once more,  you are either spared/deprived another regular pre-amble from myself (depending on your particular point of view) and we can go head first into everything Rising Sun related this weekend

On Friday we bring you yet another TRIBUTE NIGHT

Anyone who has been to a Rising Sun Tribute Night will already know the deal. Every three months we pay homage to a much-loved band or artist.  Everyone picks a song or two, practices them for a bit, then gets together again on Tribute Night to play them to a crowd - always with fascinating results. The next Tribute Night’s hero is announced at the end of the evening. It’s a simple but winning formula and is silly amounts of fun.

2016 is a very special year for both Tribute Night and the Rising Sun Arts Centre, celebrating their 10th and 25th birthdays respectively. In the spirit of partipation and inclusivity, this night is all about birthdays, or more specifically, the birthdays of those of you who perform regularly and tirelessly at Tribute Night.

A talented bunch of singers and musicians will play a varied bunch of songs that were top of the UK singles chart on one of their birthdays since they were born. Expect such diverse number one hits as The Final Countdown, Beautiful Day, Prince Charming, Bohemian Rhapsody, Cotton Eye Joe and many more...

Doors open at 8pm for a prompt 8:30pm start.

Saturday's a bit quiet.  In fact you might like to know, that CLASSICAL FOR CHARITY is taking a well-earned breather until July

On Sunday we're proud to be hosting BALBOA MONDAYS:  TEA DANCE

Come and join us at the Rising Sun for a charity swing dance, raising money towards the restoration of our beautiful listed building. Arrive at 2pm for a free balboa taster session, introducing this lovely vintage partner dance from the 1920s and 1930s with Lynn and Joey, who run our weekly class at the centre. No experience and no partner necessary.

Homemade cakes and tea will be served while our swing DJs provide the music from 2.30pm.

Dress to impress or come casual!

Contact us at balboamondays@gmail.com or go to "Balboa Mondays" on facebook for further info

We're open from 2pm to 6pm and it'll cost you £10 on the door

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
