This Weekend's Events (8th to 10th September)

Hi Everyone

Whilst driving along the other day, I thought I saw Irish pop legend Van Morrison in my rear view mirror.  What a fool I felt when I remembered that things actually look reversed in mirrors. It was actually a Morrisons’ van…

In other news, as it's September, it’s also time for our September-December programme! It's packed full of our great regular events, fantastic one-off shows and seasonal specials. Physical copies will be at the centre very soon - but for now, you can view it online: http://www.risingsunartscentre.org/sites/default/files/RSAC%20Sept%20Dec%2017%20Programme.pdf

We have a busy little weekend at the Rising Sun, starting on Friday, when we bring you THE BIG UNTIDY NIGHT OUT

The Big Untidy Night Out specialises in bringing new unusual talent into the Rising Sun.  Singers, songwriters, poets, punk outfits, ambient experimentalists, sensational cellists and demonic banjo-players, the possibilities are endless.

This month’s Untidy features the return of MY NORTHERN SKY and DANIEL EAGLE and the Untidy debut of RYAN GREAVES.

Chris (aka My Northern Sky) is a Big Untidy favourite who sings beautifully crafted songs at the piano or with acoustic guitar. His performances are always engaging and frequently moving. He is joined by the youthful and very talented and hard-gigging Daniel Eagle who sings his own songs with a huge soul voice and a degree of maturity unusual in one so young. The night brings the Untidy debut of Southampton -based Ryan Greaves. Ryan is a versatile and talented singer-songwriter who writes and plays with honesty, conviction and humour.

We’re open at 8pm and it’ll only cost you a paltry £5 on the door to get in

Saturday sees us take part in HERITAGE OPEN DAY

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,500 organisations, 5,000 events and 40,000 volunteers. Every year for four days in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.

Reading UK has published a free map guide to Heritage Open Days in Reading which can be picked up from libraries and leisure centres. Full details of all the events/locations can be found at www.heritageopendays.org.uk.

Our cafe will be open with homemade refreshments and it promises to be a great opportunity to explore the centre and all it has to offer.

We're open from 12pm to 4pm...

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
