Bullitt (Peter Yates, 1970) is an iconic perhaps seminal movie which while it may have paved the way for films like Dirty Harry and The French Connection has a less hysterical tone. Frank Bullitt - a character who seems to be perfect for Steve McQueen - is an under pressure cop who manages to remain professional in the face of adversity and just a little bit cool (great cardigan) and there's a car chase apparently.
