Altered Book Hour

Price:
Pay what you can, suggested donation £5

In this informal mixed media workshop, learn about altered books and start your own with materials provided by your hosts - or bring your own existing book, and work on it with company!

An altered book is an artwork created by changing any existing printed book in some way. Frequently collaborative and often therapeutic to make, altered books can be made using almost any media to change your starting book. We'll provide you with plenty of collage materials and art supplies, but you can also bring along any materials you like to add to your book; your own photographs, paper collage, pens, and drawing materials. We will explore collaging, drawing, painting, and paper folding techniques to alter your book pages.

Book your place here Altered Book Hour - July 2023 Tickets, Mon 10 Jul 2023 at 18:30 | Eventbrite

Your hosts are Immy Smith (aka Lycomorpha, Moths in a Human Suit) and Neile Wright (organiser of Bookface book club and arts fair.) Each month, Immy will bring a new collage material or paint/pencil supplies to experiment with, and Neile will share a paper folding or punching technique.

Old books to use in starting a project, paper collage materials, glue, scissors, washi tape and pens/pencils/paint will be available for you to use. This workshop is suitable for people aged 16 and over.

This workshop is 'pay what you want' - we ask you to contribute to our costs for materials, travel, tea/coffee/biscuits and room hire at the Rising Sun Arts Centre. Suggested donation: £5
