6-Week Creative Workshop Series
To explore the rhythm and harmony of traditional Chinese brushwork through hands-on sessions in calligraphy and painting.
Weekly sessions on Sundays 2-4pm, 20 July – 24 August
- No experience needed – beginners welcome!
- All materials provided.
- Relaxing, inspiring, and culturally enriching.
Taught by Yunxia Wu, an experienced tutor of Chinese language and culture. She specialises in East Asian folklore, art, and music, and holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology.
Planned Workshop Series：
Each session will be delivered in the following sequence:
1.Introduction to Chinese Art and Materials
Explore the history, philosophy, and tools used in traditional Chinese art.
2.Calligraphy Foundations – Regular Script
Learn the basic strokes and structure of regular script of Chinese calligraphy.
3.Expressive Techniques – Semi-Cursive Style
Develop fluidity and personal expression through semi-cursive writing .
3.Traditional Landscape Painting – Mountains, Trees, and Water
Practice brush techniques for painting classic natural elements in Chinese art.
4.Create Your Own Landscape Artwork
Apply learnings to produce an original piece combining calligraphy and painting.
