Sunday Sewing: Reading Lockdown Quilt

Price:
Free

Come and take part in our free sewing session. No experience necessary! We're in the final stages of our Reading Lockdown Quilt sewing extravaganza. This is a year-long project which started at the beginning of lockdown as a digital quilt documenting the Covid-19 pandemic in Reading. Hundreds of people across Reading sent us songs, poems, dances, photos, art work... we were overwhelmed and humbled as each patch was sent in.

Now, the Quilt team at the Rising Sun has put all of these digital patches into one massive, IRL tapestry. We are in the final stages and we welcome all sewers, quilters, embroiderers to help out. All hands on deck - we need help with cutting, ironing, sewing, appliquing, patching, and hanging the quilt. Please bring your sewing machine and/or sewing boxes if you have one. No worries if not - all equipment provided.

Our deadline is Sunday 1 August for the Grand Unveiling Party

Booking in advance for each sewing session is compulsory. This is a socially distanced workshop taking place in the main hall and the upstairs lounge.
