TRAPPED is a powerful one-woman play written by Peter Holloway, based on an original idea and performed by Dolly Kanithi.
The piece explores the psychological manipulation and emotional impact of grooming through the perspective of a young woman reflecting on her past experiences. As she revisits moments that once seemed confusing, ordinary, or even harmless, a darker truth begins to emerge. Through a combination of storytelling and physical performance, the play gradually reveals how manipulation can develop subtly, often hidden behind trust, attention, and emotional dependence.
As the narrative unfolds, the audience is invited into the inner world of someone trying to make sense of a relationship that slowly crossed the line from care into control. TRAPPED examines vulnerability, power dynamics, and the complex emotional aftermath of being drawn into a harmful situation.
With a minimalistic set and limited props, the production places the focus firmly on the performer’s physicality, voice, and emotional journey. This stripped-back staging creates an intimate atmosphere, allowing the audience to engage closely with the character’s memories and inner conflict. Through this deeply personal journey, the play reflects on manipulation, memory, and the lasting effects of experiences that can take years to fully understand.
This is a preview show of this performance and will have a Q&A and feedback session after the show. TRAPPED will be performed at the Camden Fringe on 16th/17th of August.
