“The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls, and whispered in the sound of silence.”
Simon & Garfunkel harnessed a kind of folk-rock alchemy from Paul’s finely tuned songwriting chops, Art’s soaring angelic voice, and their flawlessly intertwined harmonies. Their music developed across a handful of albums as the songwriting sharpened and they became more adventurous in the studio, and they created some of the most indelible music of the 1960s. Although short-lived as a recording duo, the partnership launched successful solo careers and the pair have endured as past masters of popular music.
At the 2026 winter edition of
Tribute Night, expect to hear a variety of folks playing a variety of Simon & Garfunkel and solo Simon/Garfunkel songs in a variety of ways, some faithfully, some surprisingly, some ill-advisedly...
If you want to be involved and play a song or two, email Zac at
tributenight@hotmail.co.uk. You can bagsy a slot first if you haven’t decided on a song.
If you are a musician/singer and you want to be involved, but you don’t know other people to play or sing with, let me know and we’ll have a go at matching you up with others.
If you have an audio/video recording of yourself performing any song relevant to this or a previous Tribute Night, please send me a link to post on the Tribute Night Facebook page.
Thank you for your continued support of this frivolous thing we call Tribute Night.
