Hi Everyone

Real life has somewhat, got in the way of things for I, your humble narrator at this present moment, so this means you are either spared or deprived any regular pre-amble from myself (depending on your particular point of view) and we can go head first into everything Rising Sun related this weekend

Friday's a bit quiet, so why not devote yourselves to watching Ethiopia vs Nepal and Mongolia vs Scotland (Gary, can you do me a favour and check these are the right games?  There's a good fellow...)

On Saturday lunchtime we bring you CLASSICAL FOR CHARITY

The July edition of Classical For Charity features the jazz singer and mezzosoprano NICOLE JOHNSON, accompanied by the pianist and organiser of the concerts, MAIJA TUOMI-NIKULA.

We have a wonderfully intricate repertoire which starts with songs from the Georgian Era, ending with some piano music from the early 1900's.

The proceeds will be split between the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre and The Rising Sun Arts Centre.

ABOUT THE PERFORMER:
Nicole Johnson is originally from Los Angeles, California. Her musical background hails from the American church gospel tradition. Her earliest performances were to church congregations as a very young child and she later moved on to direct community gospel choirs and gospel music workshops throughout California.

In 1999, she came to Reading to study English Literature and joined the University of Reading Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Patrick Kelley as its soloist. This led to the beginnings of a jazz solo performance career, which would span England, Los Angeles and Paris.

In 2009, Nicole obtained a diploma in jazz vocal performance from Trinity Guildhall London.

We'll be open from 12.30pm Tickets cost just £3. Refreshments available.

On Saturday evening, THE SCARLET VIXENS bring you another EVENING OF BURLESQUE

If you believe in the philosophy 'variety is the spice of life' then you are going to love The Scarlet Vixens! Their routines are influenced by dance genres such as hip-hop, contemporary, Bollywood, pole, hula-hoop, Charleston, classic showgirl, vintage and pin up styles. This means that each show is uniquely different for all the right reasons, with routines that are captivating, quirky, and most importantly - fun. There truly is something for everyone at a Scarlet Vixens show!

Performing for you on the night will be:

LILYANA L'AMOUR
MOJO JONES
LAYLA CHERRY

There are two special guest performers for you this time around. First up is VENUS BITTERSWEET, straight from the Scarlet Vixens very own burlesque school, BodyMind Dance Studios! Second is none other than London based burlesque/magic performer LORETTA VON DINI! What a fantastic line up, make sure you're there!

The evening's entertainment is hosted by the very naughty MISS KITTY PIMMS!.

We'll be open at 8pm, and you can get admission for just £5 on the door, we're spoiling you!

That's everything for another weekend, just to remind you that you can find us at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST  (If you put us in your Google or Sat Nav, we shall magically appear)
